Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how veridir ("we", "us", and "our") collects, uses, and protects information in the mobile application Oety: OET AI Speaking Practice (the "App").

Before you start reading: Oety is designed for role-play speaking practice for healthcare professionals. When you use the App as intended for role-play practice and avoid mentioning your own real personal information, the audio and transcripts sent for AI processing are generally limited to practice content rather than your real personal data. Please do not share your own real name, contact details, or other confidential personal information during practice sessions.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies only to the App Oety: OET AI Speaking Practice. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this document.

2. Accounts and Profiles

Firebase Authentication handles guest sessions and sign-in using email/password, Google, or Apple on iOS. We process your account identifier, sign-in provider and email when supplied. Password authentication is handled by Firebase; passwords are not stored in our application database. Your profile may include a display name, avatar, preparation role, home or target country and exam date. A suggested country may be based on device or store settings and can be changed.

Signing in connects your OETY profile, purchase access and cloud practice history across devices. Device identifiers and recent sign-in events support the two-device limit. We do not use voice recognition to identify you.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Voice recordings for practice

When you use the speaking practice features, the App records your voice on your device in order to:

  • Convert speech to text (speech-to-text / STT), and
  • Generate AI-based feedback and scores on your performance.

These recordings are used only for practice and evaluation purposes inside the App.

3.2 Transcripts and AI processing

The audio from your practice sessions is converted into text ("transcripts"). These transcripts are sent to AI language models (LLMs) to:

  • Generate realistic patient responses, and
  • Provide automated scoring and feedback on your speaking performance.

The data we send typically includes:

  • Your recorded speech, and
  • Context about the scenario and conversation needed for the AI to respond.

We design the App so that you do not need to share your own real personal information during practice. Please avoid sharing any real name, contact details, or other confidential personal information during practice sessions.

When you use the App as intended for role-play practice and avoid mentioning your own real personal information, the audio and transcripts sent for AI processing are generally limited to practice content rather than your real personal data. Please do not share your own real name, contact details, or other confidential personal information during practice sessions.

3.3 Technical and diagnostic data

We may process limited technical information such as:

  • Session duration, app/platform version, connection timing and safe error codes.
  • Account-linked device sign-in events, purchase status and credit transaction records.
  • Practice results and activity used to show your personal progress.

This information is used solely to keep the App running reliably and to improve stability. We do not use it to track you across apps or websites, and we do not build marketing profiles.

4. What We Do Not Collect or Track

  • No payment-card details are stored by OETY; purchases are handled by your app store.
  • No advertising identifiers for targeted ads.
  • No third-party advertising SDKs.
  • No behavior tracking across other apps or websites.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly for the following purposes:

  • To provide speaking practice and simulations for the OET exam.
  • To convert your voice into text so AI models can analyze it.
  • To generate automated feedback, scores, and reports to help you improve.
  • To maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the App.

6. Use of Third-Party Service Providers

Live role-play sends audio and scenario context to Google Gemini. Evaluation sends the conversation transcript and scenario to OpenRouter and the selected model provider to:

  • Recognize your speech (convert audio to text), and
  • Generate AI responses and evaluation.
Other infrastructureFirebase provides authentication and, when enabled and permitted, device notifications. Cloudflare Workers, D1 and private R2 storage provide the OETY API, account data and practice archives. RevenueCat and Apple or Google Play handle subscription/credit entitlements and purchase records. These providers may process data outside your country. Their contractual processing and retention terms apply; we do not promise zero provider retention.

These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third parties, and we do not allow third parties to use your data for their own advertising to you through this App.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Practice history can include transcripts, scores, corrections and recordings used for playback. Cloud-synced practice archives are private and account-scoped; they are not public R2 objects. History remains available until deleted rather than disappearing at the end of a session.

Operational telemetry and device sign-in records support troubleshooting and account protection. Device-session revocation records may remain while the account exists to prevent an old device token from becoming active again. Account, support and purchase-operation records are kept as needed to deliver the service and resolve support requests. Deleting your OETY account removes its OETY database records and practice archive objects; store and RevenueCat purchase records may remain under their own billing and legal retention requirements. Contact us to request deletion of diagnostic data without deleting your account.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for adult learners preparing for professional healthcare exams. It is not intended for children under the age required by local law to consent to data processing on their own. If you believe a child has used the App and provided data, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system can be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.

10. Your Choices and Controls

Manage your profile, notification preferences and account security in the App. Leaderboard participation and learner-to-learner messages are opt-in. When you opt in, other learners can see your public display name, avatar, country and ranking information. Support messages are visible to you and the OETY support team. Reported peer messages may be reviewed by the team.

Notification preferences control practice reminders, messages and announcements; operating-system permission is also needed for device alerts. Lock-screen communication alerts do not include private message text. Disable notifications in OETY or device settings.

Delete practice entries in History, or delete your account in Account after confirming your identity. You can also request deletion or access to your data at oety@veridir.com; we may verify account ownership before acting. Uninstalling alone does not delete cloud history or cancel subscriptions. Cancel store subscriptions separately. You can decline microphone permission if you do not want to send voice for practice; speaking features then cannot function.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or in legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes means you accept the updated Policy.

12. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, you can contact veridir using the contact information provided on the App Store listing for Oety: OET AI Speaking Practice, or email oety@veridir.com.
